Term 3 - 2024/25 Action Post
This school year, we continue to use data as a way of being responsive and in order to intentionally guide our next steps. At our May staff meeting, we discussed the results of our district belonging data, to verify our efforts with our spiral of inquiry and our focus of Increasing Feelings of Belonging and Improving Students' Positive Self-Concept.
Survey results include all students from grade 2-7 at Thompson Elementary:

Based on these results, we see that creating aligned and consistent school wide language, along with the support of our SR committee and sharing assemblies, where we use anchor texts to explore the big ideas of showing kindness, care and respect to ourselves, each other and our place is having a positive impact. There is still room to improve and we will continue to build on the steps taken in the right direction.
We are also using data to guide our academic focus for next year. Based on our reporting from term 1 of this school year, we compared proficiency scales of numeracy and literacy for students in each grade level. We will be gathering similar data from term 2 and term 3 of this school year, and yet, based on the trends in the initial data, we are recognizing the importance to focus in on literacy to support our learners.
