Our Story: Being, Belonging and Becoming
At Thompson we have a three-pronged approach to enhancing student learning:
1. BEING
- enhancing student self-regulation skills
- honouring the strengths and stretches of each individual
- celebrating diversity of our collective community
- sharing our learning and our stories with pride and enthusiasm
2. BELONGING
- using consistent school-wide language to embrace and embody care, kindness and respect for ourselves and each other
- updating and enhancing spaces in our school to empower our learners and foster well-being, responsibility, accountability and care for our place
- ensuring the resources used reflect the identities of our students
- strengthening relationships between students, staff and families
- sitting in circle during school-wide assemblies
- integrating the First Peoples' Principles of Learning
3. BECOMING
- reflecting on data to be responsive and intentional with next steps
- recognizing that learning is hard and involves patience and time
- celebrating our collective story, owning any mis-steps and being committed to taking action for equity, diversity, inclusion and truth
