Metacognition at Thompson - A Parent Perspective
"As a parent, I am excited about the new student-centered approach in my child’s classroom! Working individually and with his peers, he is encouraged to access prior knowledge, problem solve and think critically while making connections to real life situations (numeracy, complex systems, etc). This approach supports my child’s metacognition – thinking about his thinking, as a way for him to understand his own strengths, areas of growth and the steps needed to take his learning to the next level. He is continuously reflecting on his learning and sharing feedback with his peers. The ePortfolio has allowed my family to “see” into his classroom experiences and keeps us connected to the process of his learning."
